La Vie De Vegas -- A SUCCESS! |
Hey all! Apologies for the late updates. Hope you guys are enjoying whatever you are doing now, be it working or still hunting for a job. (Hars.)
Firstly, the convocation ball committee 2007/2008 would like to extend their deepest thanks to everyone who attended this grand affair held at the Fullerton Hotel a few weeks ago. We wish that all had enjoyed themselves thoroughly that night, with all the programmes planned out alongside the sumptuous dinner.
At about 6pm or so on the 26th July 2008, we started to see groups of people streaming into the hotel, dressed in their glamorous gowns and smart suits. All had nothing but one in common, a camera in their hands! Of course, who can miss this opportunity to snap photos with their fellow tutorial mates who have been through thick and thin with you guys? 6.30pm marked the start of the reception, with mini game booths lined up before the dining hall. Guests were given bags of chips each to "gamble" away, and the men proved to be worthy of the title "God of Gamblers", with random shoutings from time to time, hoping to get a good hand from the dealers.
Our receptionists hard at work to make sure everyone gets a seat!
A "queen of gambler" trying out her luck at one of the mini game booths
There's always time for CAMWHORING!
Then, when our guests entered the ball room, a little pleasant surprise awaits them at their seats: a pamphlet, an envelope full of vouchers, as well as a door gift for everyone to remember this night by.
The emcee of the night heats up the atmosphere by playing games time to time and the attractive lucky draw prizes kept the audience at the edge of their seats. Who wouldn't be? With prizes such as Nintendo Wii and digital camera up for grabs. The Modern Jazz Club wowed the audience with their dance items and I'm sure the videos presented touched a little part of everyone present that night.
Our beloved guests starting to stream into the beautifully decorated ballroom
Our chairlady Xiujuan giving her speech on stage
*Stomach growling* First dish is up!
Modern Jazz Club with their wonderful performance
Audiences waving their napkins in the air for the games
A hunt for the king and queen of gamblers!
The proud winner of a Nintendo Wii! The final toast that Xiu Juan and Alex made to everyone in the ballroom though signifies an end to our days in NTU; but it also marks a continuity to our friendships made, bonds that will still remain strong even after life in NTU.
Kudos to all who made this event a success.
Shouting out the last cheer... perhaps of our lives
Who would miss the chance to take a photo with the beautiful backdrop? For those thirsty of more photos taken before, during and after the event, the committee has set up an album at photobucket.com. All are free to upload their photos in the album to share it with anyone and everyone.
The URL to the album is: www.photobucket.com/laviedevegas As this is not a public album, the password for the album will be: laviedevegas (quite easy to remember huh. Har.)
So help spread the word around!
Hope you guys succeed in everything that you do. Till then~

Will there be free parking if I drive there? |
Yes. However, this will be strictly on a first-come-first-serve basis. Complimentary parking coupons are very limited. There are only 85 pieces of coupons to give away. So as long as you turn up early and register at the booth, you will be entitled to one =)

#3: Hmm… so now that I know how to get there… but by when should I be there? |
Ok folks, this is not a Chinese wedding dinner whereby the dinner is at 7.30pm but guests only start to stroll in after 8pm.
The official time off the poster is 6.30pm. But you’d like to reach there say about 6pm or so to start your cam-whoring sessions around the hotel and by the river. It is, after all, your ONE AND ONLY convocation ball of your LIFE. So no amounts of photos will ever do you justice. Just take as many as your memory card can contain!
Furthermore, though there’s no NDP rehearsal going around the corner this time round (phew!), there is, however, the K1 Race and Carnival (click to read more!) going on at Marina Bay as well as the Heritage Festival happening at the Asians Civilisations Museum.
So it’ll be best to leave off early to avoid all the jams around the area!
Trust me... traffic jams are the last thing you want to get yourself into on this big day! |

#2: Ok… so now that I’m all dressed up and ready to set off, how the heck do I get there? |
Only a stone’s throw away from Raffles Place MRT station; simply take the route of Exit F/E and from there follow the river and tada! You’ll be able to see the majestic building in no time! Seriously, I doubt anyone will take a bus when you are wearing gowns or tuxedo suits. But oh wells, for the benefit of your doubt, there’s a bus stop just right in front of the hotel. Well, obviously this is the most sensible way to get to the hotel without sweating and exposing your newly bought suits and gowns to the dust and dirt off the road. Below is a map of area, just for your reference ya? |
